Hariprasad calls upon youth to join Congress

Bangalore: All-India Congress Committee general secretary B.K. Hariprasad on Wednesday held a series of meetings with party workers at Basavanagudi, Chickpet, J.P. Nagar, Marenahalli and Vijayanagar here, calling upon the people, particularly the youth, to join the party and strengthen the hands of Rahul Gandhi, MP.
Mr. Hariprasad, who will accompany the Union Minister for Textiles to Mysore, where the latter would distribute compensation to the tune of Rs.6 crore to the employees of Sujata Textile Mills which was closed, said that it was time for them to take a decision to take active participation in development activities in the State.
Clarifying that Mr. Gandhi’s tour was part of his desire to know the real face of rural India and solve the problems faced by the poor and the downtrodden, Mr. Hariprasad said that Mr. Gandhi wanted to provide employment to the poor in all the 600 districts under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
