CPRI-CCAR to sign MoU with Canadian varsity

BANGALORE: The Centre for Collaborative and Advanced Research (CCAR) at the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) will enter into an agreement with the University of Saskatchewan - Canada.

According to the Joint Director of the centre, Balasubramanyam, the MoU will initiate collaboration between the centre and the university to carry out research projects relevant to power sector. A select list of topics for collaborative research has been prepared, based on the demand for development work from various utilities in the country. Dr. Balasumbramanyam told The Hindu that in the present context of expansion of power sector for the next 10 years, collaborative work between CPRI, the National Power Research organisation and academic institutions had great relevance.

The high-level delegation from Canada will be led by vice-president, research, of the Saskatchewan University, Steven Franklin, assistant to the vice-president, research, Bryan T. Schreiner. The MoU will be signed on March 27. The Director-General of CPRI A.K. Tripathy and member planning Central Electricity Authority V.S. Varma will also be present.

The MoU covers work on multi-disciplinary collaborative research projects, provision for higher studies and exchange of faculty expertise, exchange of scientific and technical information and publications, and a few other research initiatives.
