Bangalore: “If you had given me a copy a day earlier, I would have perused it and could have presented my views,” said H.D. Deve Gowda, former Prime Minister.

He was speaking after releasing ‘Shikshakana Horata’, an autobiography written by Konandur Venkatappa Gowda, here on Tuesday.

“I have known Mr. Venkatappa Gowda for the past 20 years. He met me once and evinced interest to write my biography. I declined, but he went ahead anyway. I now would like to express my gratitude for doing so,” he said.

G.S. Shivalingaiah, former director of collegiate education, spoke about the author and the struggle that he had to endure to get to where he is today. He also appreciated Mr. Venkatappa Gowda’s wife, Nalini Venkatappa Gowda, for supporting and standing by him (Mr. Venkatappa Gowda) during all his struggles.

E.V. Satyanarayana, one of Mr. Venkatappa Gowda’s students, introduced the author and spoke about the author’s formative years.

Mr. Venkatappa Gowda and his wife Nalini were felicitated by Mr. Deve Gowda.

G. Narayan, former Mayor and Kannada activist; Nataraj Huliyar, renowned critic; L. Hanumanthaiah, writer and former MLA; and Patil Puttappa, veteran journalist, were present on the occasion.
