Biography released

CHENNAI: Supreme Court judge V. S. Sirpurkar, who delivered the valedictory address at Ethiraj College’s week-long diamond jubilee celebrations recently, urged the students to meet competition and face the world. He suggested that the college could set up a law college for women.

Releasing the biography of the College’s founder V. L. Ethiraj, senior advocate of Nagpur Kumkum Sirpurkar said the biography would be an important document and record for the college in future. Mr. Ethiraj was a visionary who contemplated on opening an exclusive college for education, emancipation and empowerment of women, she said.

Madras High Court judge Ravi Raja Pandian recalled that Mr. Ethiraj had transformed the institution with steadfast vision. The accreditation of the college serves as a tribute to the founder, he said.

Faculty members and non-teaching staff who had served the college for 25 years were honoured. A sound and light show was organised as part of the function. Chairman of Ethiraj Trust S. Jagadeesan and college principal M. Thavamani spoke.
