Save OU land: ABVP

HYDERABAD: Demanding protection of university land, activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a dharna in front of the Osmania University administrative office where the Executive Council met to discuss the university budget on Wednesday.

The activists alleged that a portion of the university land near D.D. Colony was occupied by a group of people with fake documents and the university auhtorities did nothing to prevent it.

Kalyan, in-charge of ABVP in the university, said The market rate of the land was said to be around Rs. 32 crore. He said a hostel for research scholars should be constructed immediately on that land.

Court ruling

OU Registrar M. Mutha Reddy said there was a dispute over the land between the university and a private society. The Supreme Court too had ruled in favour of the society when the university contested the case. Even the Special Leave Petition was not entertained.
