Trial run of Jurala project successful

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The AP Genco on Wednesday commenced a trial run of the 39-MW capacity first unit of the Jurala hydro-electric project constructed as embedded part of the Jurala dam across the Krishna. The operation was successful.

The hydel unit will be synchronised unofficially on Friday/ Saturday when a team of Chinese engineers belonging to the CMEC is expected to arrive at the site. The team could not arrive in so far due to some last-minute problems relating Visas. The CMEC is a Chinese government undertaking which supplied equipment to the Jurala hydro-electric project that consists of six units, each with 39 MW capacity.

The trial run became possible following completion of the erection of 220-KV capacity transmission lines, connecting the Jurala hydel station with the State power grid.
