“No need to be scared of deal”

MANGALORE: Rahul Gandhi, general secretary, All India Congress Committee, said here on Wednesday that the people of the country need not be scared about the proposed nuclear deal.

Addressing a gathering of students at the TMA Pai International Convention Centre, he said that there was an unnecessary fear among the people about the deal. But India was strong enough to succeed against challenges from the rest of the world. “We should engage with the rest of the world. We need not be scared of anybody,” he said.

There was a need to empower the poor people of the country. He called upon the people to be Indians and not divided on the basis of caste or religion.

Prithviraj Chauhan, in-charge of the Congress affairs in the State, said Mr. Gandhi would tour Karnataka for three more days. He wanted to know the vision of the youth for the country. The inspirations of the youth would be included in the election manifesto of the Congress.

M. Veerappa Moily, chairman, National Administrative Reforms Commission, B. Janardhana Poojary, MP, Oscar Fernandes, Union Minister for Labour and Employment, and Krishna Baire Gowda, Karnataka Youth Congress president were present.
