PUDUCHERRY: When the clock strikes 8 p.m. on March 29, several countries across the globe will turn off electric lights as part of the ‘Earth Hour’ campaign to reduce carbon emissions. To be part of the global campaign, the Renewable Energy Agency of Pondicherry has requested the public to switch off all electric lights from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the day. Going with the theme of ‘Think globally, act locally,’ the agency has asked the public to turn off the sign-board lights, electric bulbs and other electrical appliances. Every household has been requested to switch off the electric lights too. Similarly, the agency has suggested that lights could be turned off for an hour on every full moon day to reduce global warming.
