Delhi Shiv Sena chief resigns

NEW DELHI: The North India president of Shiv Sena, Jai Bhagwan Goyal, has announced his resignation from the party in protest against “inhuman treatment meted out to North Indians in Maharashtra”.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Goyal said the decision to leave the party was taken because of the “partial attitude” of the party high command towards Maharashtrians. “Like the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, the Shiv Sena too has demeaned North Indians and treated them inhumanely,” he said.

Pointing out that he founded the party in Delhi in 1988, Mr. Goyal said: “Through my blood, sweet and tears I have strengthened the party, but what have I got in return?”

Mr. Goyal said he would soon announce a national party that would strengthen Hindu culture.
