Rohtak: Demanding ban on admissions to the Diploma in Education (D.ed) course in Haryana, the students undergoing the course have threatened to resort to self immolation in case the government allowed admissions in 2008. Hundreds of D.ed students from various institutes in different parts of the State arrived at Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s home town on Thursday and assembled at the local Jat Education institute ground. Hooda govt. criticisedStudent leaders criticised the Hooda government for granting permission to several private educational institutions to run the D.ed course. They questioned the logic of further admission to the course when nearly 27,000 D.ed holders were unemployed. Demanding ban on admissions to Diploma in Education course for the 2008- 10 batch in all the educational institutions in the State, the Diploma holders threatened that they would start hunger strike and were even ready to go in for self immolation if the government allowed admissions to D.ed course this year. — PTI
