TDB passes budget

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has allocated Rs.12 crore for implementing the Sabarimala master-plan and Rs.3 crore for networking all board offices, including Sabarimala.

The board which met here on Thursday passed the budget for 2008-09. It expects an income of Rs.220 crore and an expenditure of Rs.216 crore.The board sanctioned 6 per cent DA for the employees. It is expected to incur an additional expense of Rs.13.5 lakh every month and Rs.1.60 crore annually.

Financial assistance

Allocations have been made for providing financial assistance for the marriage of indigent Hindu women and an old-age home for poor Hindus above 60 years.

Funds have also been allocated to provide medical care and supply essential items for Harijan and Girijan families in the tribal settlements in the precincts of Sabarimala during Onam.
