Raids were in Bangalore, Mysore, Bellary, Hassan, Tumkur and Mangalore The Lokayukta police have found assets worth about Rs. 15 crore BANGALORE: The Lokayukta police on Thursday raided the residences and offices of seven officials and found assets allegedly disproportionate to their known sources of income. The special police raided offices and residences of four motor vehicle inspectors Sathyan, Srinivasappa, Pramathesh and N. Kariyappa; Joint Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, Mangalore, Sadashiva; K.P. Honakeri, Headquarters Assistant to Hassan Deputy Commissioner; and Food Inspector, Gulbarga, S.B. Phulare. The raids were conducted simultaneously in Bangalore, Mysore, Bellary, Hassan, Tumkur and Mangalore. Till evening the Lokayukta police had found assets worth about Rs. 15 crore. This is the fourth time that the Lokayukta police conducted raids simultaneously. The raids started early in the morning. From the house of Mr. Phulare in Gulbarga, against whom there have been formal complaints of corruption, the Lokayukta police found that he possessed a two-storeyed house. “He runs a transport company. Nine trucks of the company are used to transport civil supplies material,” Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde said. A guest-house near Humnabad Cross was in the name of his son. Documents related to 72 acres of land in Aland and 9.27 acres of land in Jambagi village had been recovered. Rs. 61,900 in cash and gold ornaments worth Rs. 1 lakh have also been recovered. From the house of Mr. Sathyan in Mysore, who is working in Sakleshpur, the police recovered documents related to four sites in Mysore, two sites at Banashankari and a site in H.S.R. Layout in Bangalore and 18 acres of land in Hassan. The police recovered several blank stamp papers. Mr. Sreenivasappa, who works in Devanahalli, near Bangalore, resides in his a three-storeyed “dream” palatial house at Rajarajeshwari Nagar in Bangalore. The police recovered documents relating to a commercial complex at Kaval Byarasandra and a house at J.P. Nagar in Bangalore. He has Rs. 7.5 lakh in the bank. Pramathesh, who works in Chitradurga, has a three-storeyed house at NGEF Layout at Nagarabhavi in Bangalore. The police recovered documents relating to two commercial buildings in Tumkur. “One of the buildings is in the name of his brother, an agriculturist, who does not pay income tax,” Mr. Hegde said. He owns 15 acres of land, has Rs. 2 lakh in bank accounts and fixed deposits of Rs. 50,000. Mr. Kariyappa, who works in Hassan, has a three-storeyed house in 1st Cross, Nagarabhavi circle, Bangalore. The commercial building near Nagarabhavi Flyover bridge, the official claims, “was built by somebody on his land”. Documents unearthed related to 50.17 acres of land at Kikkeri village in K.R. Pet of Mandya district and of 48.2 acres in a suspected “benami” transaction. The family of Joint Commissioner of Commercial Taxes Mr. Sadashiva lives at “Ramulamma Palace” in Bellary. He possesses a commercial complex, an industrial shed, a marriage hall, and land on the outskirts of Bellary. Four 40X60 sq. ft sites and 10.62 acres of land are in the name of his brother. The Lokayukta sleuths found Rs. 10 lakh in the bank account of Mr. Sadashiva and Rs. 11.6 lakh in his brother’s account and Rs. 5 lakh in other accounts. Apart from a high-end car, Mr. Sadashiva has been found possessing 1 kg of gold ornaments and 5 kg of silver articles. The Headquarters Assistant Mr. Honakeri, who has put in 22 years of service, has properties in Hassan. This includes two houses, a 50X30 sq. ft. site and a four-storeyed commercial building. He has a bank balance of Rs. 1.2 lakh and cash of Rs. 56,000.
