Mohali (Punjab): The judge hearing the disproportionate assets case against Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his family members on Thursday fixed April 9 as the next date of hearing as the Public Prosecutor contended that more than half the witnesses in the case have turned hostile. The case, which was being heard by Ropar Special Judge G. S. Saran, was transferred to Mohali as the State Government took the consent of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and appointed Mohali’s Additional District and Sessions Judge S. K. Garg as the new special judge to deal with cases pertaining to the Vigilance Bureau. Justice Garg told the Public Prosecutor and defence lawyers that he had only received the case on Wednesday and was yet to go through it. Public Prosecutor Pradeep Mehta along with defence counsels argued that “majority of the witnesses in this case have turned hostile.” PTI
