MPTCs plan indefinite fast from April 10
HYDERABAD: Members of the Andhra Pradesh MPTCs’ Association have decided to launch indefinite hunger-strike from April 10, as part of the intensified agitation, if the government fails to concede the 34 demands.
The demands include devolution of powers and release of funds. The MPTCs will also boycott the mandala parishads’ meetings.
These decisions were taken by the State committee of the association here on March 25 and 26 under the chairmanship of Y. Babu Rajendra Prasad, Member of Legislative Council. He said in a statement on Thursday that the meeting resolved to conduct a ‘jana jagruti’ programme in over 21,900 villages to enlighten people about the ‘injustice’ being done by the government to the panchayat raj set-up.
