Only President can decide on Bench: Kerala
C. Gouridasan Nair
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government has taken the position that though the adverse opinion of the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court on the demand for setting up a Bench of the High Court in Thiruvananthapuram may have greater weight than the government stand in favour of the Bench, it could not be the last word in the matter.
The State stand is that the final authority in the matter is the President who has to take decisions on the basis of advice rendered by the Union Council of Ministers. The government is also of the view that the opinion of the Governor is not in any way less important than that of the Chief Justice.
