This Day That Age
The Indian Navy’s new flagship INS Mysore, carrying Prime Minister Nehru, sailed from the naval anchorage off the Gateway of India on March 27 to carry out air-sea naval exercises about 40 miles off Bombay. The flagship was accompanied by INS Delhi and three destroyers and three frigates comprising INS Cauvery, INS Tir, INS Kirsta, INS Rajput, INS Ranjit and INS Rana. As the Prime Minister boarded the INS Mysore, buglers heralded his first visit to the ship which joined the Indian fleet and became its flagship in December last.
