Bala Sundaram stars for Knights CC

Karaikudi: Bala Sundaram’s 115 and his 160-run third wicket partnership with L. Shankar (69) helped Knights Cricket Club chalk out a resounding 260-run victory over Vanchi Cricket Club in the Sivagangai DCA ‘A’ division league at Karaikudi recently.

In another match, Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering, riding on Vijaya Ganesan’s seven for 20, beat AP Tech WBC Software Lab Cricket Club by 67 runs.

The scores (‘A’ division): Knights CC 351 for eight in 40 overs (Bala Sundaram 115, L. Shankar 69) bt Vanchi CC 91 in 21.2 overs (Jaffer four for nine); ACCET 173 in 37.2 overs (Raja Murugan 52 n.o., Venkatachalam five for 29) bt AP Tech WBC Software Lab CC 106 in 19 overs (John Paul 40, Vijaya Ganesan seven for 20); Sachin Brothers CC 147 in 28.4 overs (Charankumar 43) lost to Devakottai CC 151 for two in 17.5 overs (Balamurugan 50, Sakthivel 45).

‘C’ division: Kendriya Vidyalaya 128 for six in 20 overs (Khimaram 52 n.o.) lost to B. Tech CECRI 132 for three in 16.3 overs (Manikandan 75 n.o.); Alagappa Govt. Arts College 138 for nine in 22 over lost to Senshare CC 141 for six in 21.4 overs; Kendriya Vidyalaya 126 for seven in 20 overs lost to Moonlight CC 129 for six in 18.3 overs (Jaman 60); B. Tech CECRI 107 in 23 overs lost to Optra Computers CC 108 for four in 19.5 overs.

Match drawn

Golden Blues Football Club and National Football Club (Alagapuri) ended in a 1-1 draw in the Sivagangai DFA ‘B’ division league here on Thursday. Ayyappan scored for Golden Blues, while Arumugam netted for National FC. The other match between Friends Football Club (Kandanur) and Gold Star Football Club (Karuviapatti) ended goalless.

Bright Star FC posts win

Bright Star Football Club (Peltai) beat Standard Youth Club 3-2 in the Tirunelveli DFA super league for the MKM Banu Memorial Trophy at Palayamkottai on Thursday.

Moses opened the account for Bright Star with a 26th minute strike, while Muthumalai equalised for Standard Youth. Mahendran put Standard ahead in the 47th minute but John equalised in the 62nd minute and Ashok netted the winner in the 78th minute for Bright Star.
