Cultural festival in honour of Kappanna

BANGALORE: Nepathya Samskruti Sambrama, a cultural festival, will be held to mark the 60th birthday of Srinivas G. Kappanna, Chairman of Karnataka Nataka Academy, from Friday at Ravindra Kalakshetra here to coincide with the World Theatre Day.

Nepathya Samskruti Sambrama Festival Committee convenor T.S. Nagabharana told presspersons that the three-day event would feature stage songs, dance and music in which 1,500 artistes would take part. Mr. Kappana’s contribution to the theatre was immense. “The festival will recall the history of theatre,” he said. While folk artist Yenagi Balappa will inaugurate the festival, Bharatanatya dancer Pratibha Prahlad, will perform on Saturday followed by contemporary dance by Natya Institute of Choreography.
