Fatally hit by train

TAMBARAM: A 25-year-old software engineer was killed on the spot after he was hit by a suburban electric train while crossing the track near Tambaram Sanatorium Railway Station on Thursday morning.

M. Sivamurugan of Mannargudi was working with a software firm in Manapakkam near Porur. He was staying in a rented accommodation in Radha Nagar, Chromepet.

On Thursday morning, he reached the Tambaram Sanatorium Railway Station.

According to the police, eye-witnesses had seen him crossing the track from the platform, when he was hit by the electric train on its way to Tambaram from Chennai Beach.

Export firm staff dies

Mohammed Eliyas Suber, a 25-year-old youth hailing from Bihar, on Thursday succumbed to the injuries that he sustained in an accident at Urapakkam Railway Station near Tambaram on Tuesday.

Working in an export firm in Ayanavaram, Suber was staying in Urapakkam.

He was rushing to work and tried to board a moving electric train towards Tambaram, when he slipped and fell.

He was taken to a private hospital and shifted to Government General Hospital in Chennai, where he died on Thursday.
