Change in guidelines for loan waiver urged
HYDERABAD: The State government has urged the Centre to take certain measures like extending the cut-off date to enable more farmers to avail of the loan waiver benefit announced for farmers.
The government wants the Centre to extend the acreage in the upland areas instead of restricting it to five acres in case of small farmers and 2.5 acres for marginal farmers.
Replying to a debate on the issue which figured during question hour in the Assembly on Thursday, Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy said the scheme would benefit about 77.87 lakh farmers in the State, which had a share of about Rs. 12,500 crore out of the Rs. 60,000-crore package announced.
