Rahul all praise for Karnataka

and build nation
“I’m here to
know problems
of people”

HUBLI: AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi was all praise for Bangalore and Karnataka during his address to students on the second day of his tour of north Karnataka on Thursday.

For the first time in the past two days, he addressed a public gathering, comprising students, on the Anjuman Polytechnic premises on Karwar Road.

“For the last two days I am here trying to know Karnataka and the problems of the people. Karnataka is a progressive State. Every foreign dignitary who comes to India wants to know about Bangalore and Karnataka,” he said. “The people of Bangalore and Karnataka are hard working and have contributed to making India great through their contribution in the field of information technology. India will be grateful to the people of Karnataka.”

In his brief speech, Mr. Gandhi said students were the future of India and called upon them to join politics and contribute to the country’s progress. Immediately after completing his address, Mr. Gandhi moved towards the students who were waiting for his arrival for nearly two hours, holding placards conveying their support for him and waving Congress flags. He shook hands with the students and gave his autograph to some of them. He also took questions from them.

Eighth standard students Bibi Fathima and Umera, who had been standing for two hours, looked tired but were happy that they could see him at least from a distance.

To a question, Mr. Gandhi said he would take up the issue of reducing the fee structure for higher education, especially professional courses at the appropriate forum.

NTTF visit

Prior to his visit to Anjuman Polytechnic, Mr. Gandhi spent almost an hour at the NTTF Technical Training Centre in Dharwad, where he interacted with the students for a while and visited various sections at the institute. Only photographers were allowed to enter the NTTF premises.

When confronted by presspersons, KPYCC president Krishna Byre Gowda said the party had not invited them to cover the visit.
