Welfare board slammed for arbitrary decisions
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: Non-official members of the Tamil Nadu Disabled Welfare Board have criticised the official members for taking decisions without informing or seeking the consent of the entire Board.
Referring to identity cards issued by the Board to the disabled in Tirunelveli recently, the members said in a petition submitted to Social Welfare Minister Poongothai Aladi Aruna that they were not aware of the plan.
They came to know about it only through newspaper reports brought to their notice by members of the Amar Seva Sangam, a non-governmental organisation, and S. Ramakrishnan, one of the non-official members.
Issuing identity cards was a ‘significant’ decision, which required the consent of all members, said S. Namburajan.
