Bangalore: This one is a tribute to the common man: the man you have passed by on the street, but have not noticed, stood next to on an interminable queue, but do not remember. Theatre company Yours Truly will present their play Common Man, in an interactive “complete-the-story” theatre style at Rangashankara on April 2 and April 3 at 7.30 p.m. The play has been written by Nandini and directed by Ranji and Nandini. The play is a social satire as much as it is a tribute to the common man and “his journey driven by hopes, dreams and aspirations” in a society that is oblivious to him, consumed as it is by its mechanical ways. he play portrays society through the eyes of the common man: A man who lives “under the shadow of the bomb - cancer - carcinogens - illness - unemployment - impotence - fear of fear - blacks whites - police - rates - income tax - parking tickets - forgetting our lines - losing money - making too much money - losing hair - getting fat - getting ugly - being stupid…” The “complete-the-story” format is an evolute of the lab work by Yours Truly. Here, the scripted story stops midway and the audience is asked to give a conclusion which will be enacted by the actors. For more information visit: www.yourstruly-theatre.com.
