THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A three-day workshop on theatre concluded at the Russian Cultural Centre on March 27. The workshop was held in connection with the World Theatre Day celebrations. Personnel from the theatre group Abhinaya led the classes at the workshop. Sessions at the workshop focussed on the styles of Russian playwright Anton Chekhov and that of director-actor Stanislavsky. D. Raghoothaman, who led the sessions relating to the realist acting style of Stanislavsky, focussed on first creating an actor in the participants and then creating a character in the actor — something that is central to the ‘Stanislavsky system.’ Once the actors transformed, individually, into characters, the workshop created situations for them to interact. This was finally presented as a drama at the conclusion of the workshop. Twenty youth participated in the camp, director of Russian Cultural Centre Ratheesh Nair said.
