BHUBANESWAR: General secretary of Communist Party of India (M-L) Liberation Dipankar Bhattacharya on Friday criticised Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on taking an anti-Central government stand on the National Mineral Policy issue. Blaming Mr. Patnaik for alleging that the Centre was framing the new mining policy at the instance of multinational companies, Mr. Bhattacharya said the Chief Minister had no moral right to make such statements when his own government was going out of its way to help various multinational companies to acquire mineral deposits in the State. Coming down heavily on both the United Progressive Alliance and the National Democratic Alliance for facilitating loot of Orissa’s mineral wealth and shedding crocodile tears for the State’s poor, Mr. Bhattacharya informed that his party would observe April 1, foundation day of the State, as `Save Orissa Day’ to highlight the “black deeds” of Naveen Patnaik Government. As regards the new mineral policy, Mr. Bhattacharya demanded that export of minerals be curbed and royalty collected on ad valorem basis.
