CUTTACK: Five pilgrims to Puri including a woman and a child died when their vehicle hit a parked truck near Manguli at distance of 15 kilometers from Cuttack at around 4 am on Friday. Eleven persons were seriously injured in the accident. The vehicle was travelling from Dhamra in Bhadrak district to Puri carrying 16 persons on a pilgrimage tour. According to police officials involved in the rescue operation the accident may have been caused due to drowsiness of the driver, who also died in the accident. Three persons including a woman died on the spot. Two others including an eight year old child died on their way to SCB medical college hospital. Four of the deceased were Bimal Mandal (28), his wife Champa Mandal (24), Ajit Khatua (35) and his daughter Anita Khatua (8). The other deceased was the driver of the vehicle.
