Staff Reporter

Joining hands: M.K. Singh, who took over as the new SP, calling on district Collector N. Sridhar in Anantapur on Friday.

ANANTAPUR: M.K. Singh took over as the new Superintendent of Police of Anantapur district here on Friday. Deputy Inspector General of Police, Anantapur Range, N. Jayarami Reddy, handed over the charge to Mr. Singh.

The new SP called on District Collector N. Sridhar in the latter’s camp office before proceeding to his office in the District Police Office.

Talking to mediapersons after assuming the office as the district head of the police Mr. Singh stated that he would conduct ‘praja darbar’ every day to hear problems of the people.

All the activities being carried out as part of the maintenance of law and order including dealing with the factional elements would be continued, he noted.

The praja darbar would be held outside his chambers so that complainants could have easy access to him. Timings of the new programme would be fixed soon.

Addressing grievances

A telephone number too would be allotted to praja darbar to hear the problems of people. He would speak to the concerned police officers immediately on the grievances of people coming to him.

He, however, suggested people not to come from far off places and without meeting the local police officers. They could come to him if they failed to get justice there.

Every constable would be made in-charge of two villages each to maintain good relations with people and to learn their problems better, the SP stated.

Special measures would be taken to keep matka under check. Several police officers called on the new SP.
