PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry government’s budget for 2008-2009 has drawn flak from the farmers in the Union Territory even as political parties and industrial organisations commended several announcements. The Puducherry Agriculturists’ Association said that a number of schemes for the farmers that were announced in the previous budget were still pending. As per the previous budget, the government had still not waived loans to the tune of Rs. 27.45 crore, the association said in a release. The Puducherry Unit of Communist Party of India (Marxist) said it lacked new schemes to contribute to the growth of the Union Territory.
