Student caught with answers written on hands, exam pad She claims English teacher had helped her with answers MIRYALAGUDA (NALGONDA DT.): A mobile phone, especially the short messaging service (SMS) facility available with it, has allegedly come in handy for some unscrupulous elements to leak the tenth class questions. A day after the Miryalaguda police filed a case against the Principal of Krishnaveni Talent School R. Shobhan Kumar for passing on answers of English-I question paper to his students well in advance, many intriguing angles of the sordid episode came to light. An official of the Education Department told the police that a flying squad had booked a girl at the Zilla Parishad Girls’ High School for having answers written all over her examination pad and hands. She was caught a couple of minutes before the commencement of the examination. The girl told the officials that Shobhan Kumar, an English teacher, helped her resorting to the malpractice. “Though the officials knew about Kumar’s episode in the morning, they filed a complaint only at 4 p.m. Had they reacted quickly, we would have arrested him,” Sub-Inspector Chandra Kumar said. Accused abscondingThe police were yet to arrest Shobhan Kumar. “He is absconding and we are trying to nab him,” Inspector M. Venkateswarlu said on Friday evening. District Educational Officer Mastanaiah revealed that the Principal of the corporate school had reportedly got the questions from an official on duty at Nagarjuna High School in Vanasthalipuram, Hyderabad well in advance. However, enquiries revealed that a network had been established with Hyderabad as the base, to leak the objective questions to selected examination centres. 46 answers“As many as 46 out of 50 answers of English-I paper were sent in through SMS to various centres. Teachers working in the corporate school have confessed to it in private conversations,” a Principal of a reputed institution in Nalgonda claimed. He blamed the management for resorting to such “dirty tricks” to get good ranks. The DEO, who didn’t rule out the possibility of such modus operandi. “It is up to the police to find out the genesis of the problem,” Mr. Mastanaiah maintained. Meanwhile, a group of students staged a protest at Miryalaguda and Nalgonda demanding that the government cancel the recognition of the particular school for resorting to malpractices.
