State IPS officers allege raw deal

Sixth Central Pay Commission

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh IPS Association on Friday alleged that the 6th Central Pay Commission meted out a raw deal to State Director-Generals of Police and effectively brought down DGP scale by five years compared to the scale fixed by the 5th pay panel.

In a statement here, secretary of the association V. Dinesh Reddy said the 6th CPC did “great injustice” to IPS officers in general and to State DGsP in particular.

While it was a matter of great satisfaction that the Director-Generals of Central Paramilitary Forces were given apex scale on a par with the DGsP of Border Security Force (BSF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), “It is a matter of great let down that the DGsP of States, who command a much higher strength of police as compared to many CPMFs and shoulder much higher responsibility in matters of law and order, crime and internal security, have been given a raw deal.”

‘Remove scale’

Stating that it was imperative that the Director-General of Police of a State was also placed in the same apex scale on a par with Director-Generals of Central Paramilitary Forces, he said that gross injustice was done to IPS in the scale of DIG. He demanded that the scale of a DIG be removed from PB3 and bracketed with PB4.

Imperative

Mr. Reddy said that keeping in view the present national security scenario, it was all the more imperative to bring about drastic improvement from that of the 5th Central Pay Commission as is the case with other services.
