This Day That Age
The World Bank has agreed to give a sum of 14 million dollars (about rupees seven crores) as loan to the Government of India for the development of Madras Port, following the recent negotiations. This was announced by Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri, Minister for Transport and Communications, on March 28. Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri gave out a series of policy decisions in respect of shipping, port development, civil aviation, and road transport and Post and Telegraphs. Mr. Shastri, who will be relinquishing his office to take up his new post as Commerce and Industry Minister, covered almost every criticism and suggestion made in the House during the debate.
