Letters to the Editor
The death of Rinky Kaushik, 15-year-old girl who was allegedly beaten up by her teacher three months ago, is extremely unfortunate. The person responsible for her death should be brought to book immediately. It is a clear case of culpable homicide by the teacher and should attract exemplary punishment. The authorities should come down heavily on teachers who mete out corporal punishment so that innocent students do not suffer. J. Anantha Padmanabhan, Srirangam Rinky’s death has diminished the image of teachers. The police should treat the case with the seriousness it deserves if children are to remain safe in schools. The teacher accused of hitting Rinky should be barred from teaching as he is an insult to the teaching community. Manish Kumar Shaw, New Delhi
