NEW DELHI: International Italian premium coffee brand Illycaffe on Friday announced its decision to set up an Indian retail chain of its luxury cafes throughout the country by partnering the Narang group as master franchisee. The company plans to open five ‘Espressamente illy’ cafes within this year and another 35 outlets over the next five years, Illycaffe Chairman Andrea Illy told a press conference here. First outletThe ‘Espressamente Illy’ is a project launched by Illycaffe in 2003 for expanding its base globally and has till now opened over 175 cafes in over 30 countries. The company plans to open its first Espressamente Illy at Bangalore airport and is going to open its flagship outlet in Mumbai within the next four months. The Narang group, as a master franchise for Illycaffe, is looking to open five outlets in the first year of the launch. According to Narang group Joint Managing Director Rohit Narang, his company and partners would be following four models for the franchises, varying from 200 sq. ft. simple outlets to 1,500 sq. ft flagship store. “We are going to focus more on opening flagship outlets in metro cities initially,” he added. However, Mr. Narang declined to comment on the investments and the revenue projections. The Narang group has been in the hospitality industry for over three decades. Illycaffe is an Italy based company, engaged in the production and marketing of unique blend of espresso coffee globally.
