Match ends in a draw

MADURAI: Standard Youth Football Club and Nehru Youth Football Club were involved in a 1-1 draw in the Tirunelveli District Football Association super league for the MKM Banu Memorial Trophy at Palayamkottai on Friday.

Ramesh scored for Nehru Youth Club in the fifth minute and Raja Pandi netted for Standard Youth Club in the 18th minute.

Selection trials

At Udhagamandalam, the Nilgiris District Football Association will hold selection trials for seniors for the 49th senior State football championship for the S.A. Naidu Shield at the HADP Open Air Stadium on March 31 at 3 p.m.

Winners SC posts win

Winners Sports Club (Vairavapuram) beat Golden Blues (Karaikudi) 2-0 in the Sivagangai DFA ‘B’ division league at AUCPE ground, Karaikudi on Friday.

Sornam (19th minute) and Gnanam (48th) scored.

The match between National Football Club (Alagapuri) and Gold Star Football Club (Karuviapatti) ended goalless.

Chellapandi shines

K. Chellapandi’s 92 helped Gandhigram Rural Institute defeat PVP College (Batlagundu) by 71 runs in the Dindigul District inter-collegiate cricket league at Dindigul on Friday.

The scores:

Gandhigram Rural Institute 168 for six in 20 overs (K. Chellapandi 92) bt PVP College (Batlagundu) 97 in 15.2 overs.

GTN Arts College 123 for six in 20 overs (N. Murugesan 41) lost to PSNA CET 125 for seven in 16 overs.

RVS CET 93 in 16.3 overs lost to NPR College of Arts and Science (Natham) 95 for four in 16.4 overs.

Coimbatore District volleyball league

The District volleyball league championship for the T.S. Natarajan Memorial Trophy for men and Jayamani Dharmalingam Memorial Trophy for women will be held at the VOC Park Corporation Sports Complex courts (Coimbatore) from March 29 to 31.

Summer camp

Lifespring Sports Condo’s sixth summer camp in tennis, swimming, squash, badminton, karate and golf will be held at its premises from April 1 to May 30.

Easy for Ranjit CC ‘A’

At Namakkal, Ranjit Cricket Club ‘A’ (Tiruchengodu) scored a 63-run win over PRP Kapil Cricket Club (Namakkal) in the Canara Bank-DCAN ‘A’ division league at the ICL Colony grounds recently.

The scores:

Ranjit CC ‘A’ 192 in 36.4 overs (Sathish 50) bt PRP Kapil CC 129 in 33.2 overs (Musthafa 59, Suresh four for 29).
