TRS flayed for ‘forcing’ bypolls

Staff Reporter

Resignation move unwise, says District Congress Committee chief

DHARPALLY (NIZAMABAD DT.): District Congress Committee president Gadugu Gangadhar said byelections were unnecessarily foisted on people because of the hasty decision of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti over the issue of separate Telangana and the decision he described as “unwise” and “unwarranted”.

It was hasty because despite the issue was put in the hands of AICC president Sonia Gandhi the TRS legislators and MP resigned blaming the Congress.

They had to wait till the decision was delivered by Mrs. Gandhi, he said while addressing a gathering of Congress party workers, here on Friday.

The Congress Government led by Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in the State has been rapidly developing the State by launching plethora of programmes for all sections of the society and particularly to the downtrodden.

Consequently, every section of the society was happy and the State was witnessing progress in all sectors, he said.

Telugu Desam Party which ruled the State for ten consecutive years ignored development of the State and also welfare of the weaker sections and farmers.

Therefore, they had no moral right to criticise the Congress party and its rule, he said.

Listing the developmental activities carried out by the Congress Government in the Dichpally constituency which is going for byelection as a result of resignation of TRS MLA, he said 400 kv sub-station built at a cost of more than Rs.178 crore would be commissioned in next few days. Similarly, the Ramadugu medium irrigation project was completed and dedicated to farmers.

Mr. Gangadhar, later, addressing the Congress workers at Makloor mandal headquarter called upon them to work hard for the victory of the party. He said the long pending Guthpa LI Scheme could be made possible only because of the Congress party.
