Man killed in road accident

VISAKHAPTANAM: A 42-year-old man M. Somaraju who was riding a two-wheeler died in the wee hours of Friday after being hit by a lorry, according to the police.

Somaraju was negotiating a right turn at a road divider opposite Marripalem bus stop after dropping his daughter at the RTC complex when a lorry hit his vehicle from the rear. Somaraju, who used to work at APCO showroom in Poorna Market, died on the spot. The lorry driver G. Mahesh, 22, son of Sambasiva Rao and his lorry are in police custody. Fifth Town SI V. Babji Rao is investigating the case.

ASI submits report

Former ASI Singuri Kanta Rao working in Vizianagaram RPF submitted his report on Friday about the incident in which an accused B. Srinu gave the slip to the constable who was scorting him.

Earlier on March 17, Kantaroa caught Srinu, 22, red- handed while the latter was trying to steal some railway property.

Srinu was brought to the city to be produced in court but he ran away while being escorted by the ASI Kanta Rao and the constable near Srinivasa Kalyana Mandapam.
