South Africa says no

Karachi: Cricket South Africa has rejected the Pakistan Cricket Board’s invitation to play a Test series later this year.

After Australia postponed its tour of Pakistan this month due to security reasons, PCB said it wanted South Africa to tour in October to play three Tests.

PCB Chairman Nasim Ashraf had told reporters that initial proposal had been conveyed to South African authorities and the response was positive.

According to him, Pakistan wanted the series sometime in October after the Champions Trophy but the venues were not final and South Africa might also host the series.

But according to an internal memo of CSA, South Africa apparently has received no proposal from Pakistan on this subject.

Brian Basson, the General Manager Cricket Operations of CSA, said in the memo that the board was yet to receive a formal request from PCB. — PTI
