Mettupalayam: Summer special Nilgiris Mountain Railway (NMR) train from Mettupalayam to Udhagamandalam was flagged off by the Salem Divisional Railway Manager, S. Mohan, on Saturday.

Normally, the summer special train to Udhagamandalam used to be flagged off only during the third week of April.

Benefit

This year for the benefit of the tourists visiting the hill station, it was flagged off early.

The summer special train No. 0670 will leave Mettupalayam at 9 a.m. and reach Udhagamandalam at 1.50 p.m. every day.

In the return direction, train No. 0669 will leave Udhagamandalam at 12.15 p.m.

Mr. Mohan told newsmen that the plea from various sections of the society for increasing the frequency of the Mettupalayam – Coimbatore Passenger and extension of the Amrita Express between Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad up to Mettupalayam would be examined.
