Doctors seek CGHS scales

Sangareddy: The Medak unit of Andhra Pradesh Government Doctor’s Association launched a relay hunger strike programme at the district headquarter hospital demanding implementation of CGHS scale for non-teaching doctors.

While the doctors appreciated the improved UGC scales for 3,000 doctors, it demanded better scales for the 7,000 strong non-teaching doctors who shoulder the responsibility of providing medical care in rural areas. The association attributed the lack of interest among doctors to join rural PHCs to low salaries.
