Total credit outlay for Namakkal Rs. 1, 094 crore

NAMAKKAL: The agriculture sector would receive 57 per cent of the total credit flow projected in the Annual Credit Plan (ACP) for Namakkal district for the financial year 2008-09.

The sector was given a major share of Rs. 625.01 crore in the ACP, launched by Collector G. Sundaramurthi at the District Consultative Committee meeting held here recently. Of which, a sum of Rs. 393.48 crore was earmarked for crop loans.

The total credit outlay for priority sectors in the district for the coming fiscal was put at Rs. 1094.98 crore in the ACP, which was 23 per cent higher than the last year’s total outlay.

The plan estimated a credit flow of Rs. 165.43 crore for the non-farm sector and Rs. 304.54 crore for the other priority sectors.

The commercial banks would share Rs. 800.42 crore, contributing 73 per cent of the total credit outlay for the district. The co-operative banks would share Rs. 288.45 crore and Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation Rs. 6.11 crore.

Of the total outlay, a sum of Rs. 655.57 crore would be disbursed in the rural areas and Rs. 439.41 crore in the semi urban and urban areas.

A sum of Rs. 77.61 crore was earmarked for various government-sponsored development programmes.

Indian Bank Deputy General Manager R. Mahadevan, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development Assistant General Manager P. Jayakannan, Reserve Bank of India Assistant General Manager M. Vijaykumar, District Rural Development Agency Project Officer P. Renuga Devi, Mahalir Thittam Project Officer Muthumeenal, Lead District Manager T.R. Suresh and senior officials were present.
