Bangalore: Vivek Vardhan, principal and promoter of Padmavathi School, was found hanging from the ceiling fan at his residence at Shanthinagar in Ashoknagar police station limits on Thursday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) B.N.S. Reddy, quoting from his suicide note, said that Vardhan (29) took the extreme step apparently in connection with a controversy over not registering the names of students who were to appear for the tenth standard examinations commencing on March 31 Students who had paid their examination fees in the school had not received their hall tickets. Registering namesWhen they questioned the principal about the delay in receiving them, Vardhan realised he had forgotten to register their names, Mr. Reddy said. On Friday morning, the domestic help came for work. No one responded when he knocked on the door. She called Vardhan’s sister-in-law who resides on the first floor. When they got into the house they found Vardhan hanging from the ceiling fan. Vardhan’s wife and daughter were not in town, the police said. Ashoknagar police have registered a case. Further investigation is on.
