Chitradurga: Canara Bank, lead bank of Chitradurga district, released the annual credit plan of Rs. 568.49 crore for 2008-09 here on Friday. In the plan, the bank said, it had reserved Rs. 491.76 crore to priority sectors which included agriculture and small-scale industries. The remaining Rs. 76.73 crore had been earmarked for non-priority sectors. As against last year, the bank had increased the allocation to Rs. 68.43 crore to the priority sector. In the NABARD’s Potential Linked Credit Plan (PLCP), a provision had been made to disburse loans to the tune of Rs. 599.81 crore to priority sectors. As per the accounts furnished by the bank till the end of December, it had received deposits to the tune of Rs. 1042.75 crore, while Rs. 1108.52 crore had been given as loans. The share of loan included Rs. 547.27 for agriculture, Rs. 172.47 crore for industries and Rs. 226.06 for the service sector. With regard to the achievement of target, the bank, for the previous financial year, had set a target of Rs. 230.42 crore for agriculture loan, but could disburse only Rs. 217.57 crore, achieving a target of 94 per cent. In the industrial sector, the bank had achieved 103 per cent, in service sector 94 per cent, and 95 per cent in the priority sector, the bank said. N.Y. Hanumantappa, MP, released the plan.
