Kakinada: Four members of the Palakajeedi and Galikonda Local Guerrilla Squads (LGS) of CPI Maoist – K. Subbu, G. Lengu, G. Siva and K. Lakshmi -- surrendered before DIG Hasan Reza here on Saturday. All the four extremists hail from Visakhapatnam district. Lengu and Subbu belong to Revulakota village in Koyyuru mandal while Siva and Lakshmi are natives of Thotachilaka and Anthada villages of the same mandal. Subbu, Siva and Lengu started playing an active role in the proscribed outfit in 2000 as members of Palakajeedi LGS. Besides taking part in militant attacks, they had contributed to expanding the party’s network. Lakshmi worked as member of Galikonda LGS starting from 2001. All of them underwent training in blasting landmines and soap bombs. Each one of them carries a reward of Rs. 20,000. They were involved in the attack on a police station near Chintakarrapalem village that left three constables dead and murder of four persons by branding them police informers. Superintendent of Police B. Sreenivasulu made arrangements for payment of Rs. 5,000 to each of the surrendered Maoists as immediate help and for their rehabilitation. Fond farewellEluru range DIG Hasan Reza has said that Superintendent of Police B. Sreenivasulu will have greater challenges on hand when he takes over as the Deputy Commissioner of Police of Cyberabad (Hyderabad) and exuded confidence that he would work as efficiently as he had done in the last two years as SP of this coastal district. Addressing a farewell meeting here on Saturday, Mr. Reza said that Mr. Sreenivasulu had successfully discharged his duties to the appreciation of all sections though his style of functioning was disliked by some. Tightrope walkThe situation would be completely different at Cyberabad where almost everyone is a VIP and most IT firms were located there. It would be a tightrope walk. However, Mr. Sreenivasulu had the experience and conviction to serve the people amidst all odds, the DIG added. Additional SP A.V. Ranganath said that Mr. Sreenivasulu deserved accolades for his dedication to duty. Political pressureThere were several instances of political pressure but he would politely convince the people’s representatives instead of picking up a confrontation. Later, Mr. Reza, Mr. Ranganath, Andhra Pradesh Special Police Commandant W.C. Warren, OSD PHD Ramakrishna, Kakinada DSP S. Surya Rao and others bid farewell.
