Council adjourned sine die

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The State Legislative Council adjourned sine die on Saturday after passing the Appropriation Bills which were earlier adopted by the Assembly the previous evening.

The Telugu Desam members staged a walkout when the Bills were passed in the Council.

The Leader of Opposition Dadi Veerabhadra Rao said their protest was against the failure of the Government to concede demands to stop privatisation of public sector undertakings, strengthen Panchayat Raj bodies and eliminate transactions in Government lands. The Council was in session for 24 days since February 11. It transacted business for 99 hours during which 22 Bills were passed. Three members of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) resigned during the session, taking the number of vacancies in the House of 90 to six. The Council had a long recess from March 6 to 23.
