THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thirty-odd women delegates from South Asian and Central Asian countries will attend the five-day ‘Women in Energy’ workshop for Efficient Energy Management and Renewable Energy that begins here on April 20. Several diplomatic emissaries too are scheduled to attend the workshop funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy (SARI/Energy), Energy Management Centre (EMC), Thiruvananthapuram, and P.A. Consulting Group. Women delegates representing Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India will attend. The workshop is being organised for women representatives from South Asia, who have the expertise in efficient energy management at the household and community level.The workshop will familiarise women with the best practices in energy efficiency and energy conservation. The participants will be introduced to renewable energy applications like solar cookers, solar lighting. The workshop will be held at the Muthoot Plaza. A series of aesthetic events had been organised for the week-long event. Cultural programmes with themes like Fusion Music, Pan Asian, Authentic Kerala, will be held.
