Chandigarh: The Haryana Government on Saturday said both the units of a 600-MW power project, built by Reliance Energy, at Yamunanagar are likely to commence operations next month. While Unit-II of Deen Bandhu Chaudhary Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Station was synchronised at on Saturday, Unit-I was likely to come into commercial production from April 1, Haryana Power Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala said. Unit-II was synchronised on oil and is likely to be fired on coal within a week, he said. This would go a long way in easing the power situation in the State and was part of endeavour of the Government to supply quality, timely and sufficient power to the people of Haryana, he said. The Minister said the State power utilities have also undertaken a transmission and distribution infrastructure development programme. The utilities propose to construct as many as 164 new substations in the next 18-24 months. The proposed projects include two sub-stations of 400 KV at a cost of Rs 185 crore, 11 sub-stations of 220 KV costing Rs 286.20 crore, 36 substations of 132 KV costing Rs 300.11 crore, 21 substations of 66 KV costing Rs 239 crore and 94 substations of 33 KV costing Rs 139.19 crore. Transmission linesMr. Surjewala said in addition to these, 94 sub-stations of 33-220 KV and capacities would be augmented at a cost of Rs 223.33 crore. It was also proposed to erect additional transmission lines with a length of 2,678.67 km at a cost of Rs 772.62 crore in the next 18 to 24 months. Above projects would entail a total cost of Rs 2,142.52 crore. PTI
