CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Power Distribution Corporation would launch a massive campaign in the State for mass awakening about consequences of theft of power and electricity conservation from April 1 to May 31, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Managing Director A.K. Singh said on Saturday. In a statement, he said these issues were of vital concern and could bridge the big gap between availability and demand of electricity. It would also go a long way in minimising the aggregated technical and commercial losses. He said seminars on these topics would be arranged in all operation circles during the campaign period in which officers of the vigilance, legal, technical wings and experts from other concerned departments would be present. It had been decided to invite public opinion makers like municipal councillors, sarpanchs, panchs and prominent persons of the area. Mr. Singh also said that the sub-divisional officers would arrange at least one public meeting every Saturday in their areas for mass awakening. The Corporation would also distribute printed leaflets to consumers along with their electricity bills on the consequences of pilferage of power and electricity conservation.
