BANGALORE: The Special Court trying the multi-crore stamp paper racket cases on Saturday acquitted two police personnel from the charge of conniving with Abdul Kareem Telgi and subverting investigation into the racket. The judge C.G. Hungund acquitted police inspector Wali Pasha and police sub-inspector V.A. Khan. It also acquitted Syed Mohiyuddin, who was charged with using his two bank accounts for disbursing the proceeds of fake stamp papers. The CBI had charged Wali Pasha, V.A. Khan and Assistant Commissioner of Police Sangram Singh with conniving with Telgi and subverting investigations in relation to a case registered with the City Market police Station in 1997. The City Market police had seized fake stamp papers worth Rs. 3 lakh and filed a charge sheet against six persons. Singh was the inspector in the police station, while Pasha and Khan were the sub-inspector and assistant sub-inspector respectively. The court acquitted four accused in 2001. The CBI took over the investigation in 2004 and filed charge sheets. While Pasha, Khan, Mohiyuddin and Telgi were named as accused in one case, a separate case was registered against Sangram Singh. The Special Court acquitted Pasha, Khan, Mohiyuddin and Telgi. The case against Sangram Singh is pending in the court.
