HYDERABAD: The Congress appears to have entered the election mode, if the five-month-long programmes announced by the party on Saturday, are any indication. In a bid to rejuvenate the party committees across the State, the AP Congress Committee president D. Srinivas announced that the party cadres had to be involved in the massive public welfare programmes taken up by the Congress government in the State so far. Beginning with the launch of Rs. 2-a-kg-rice scheme on April 9 in drought-prone Mahabubnagar district by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the party has decided to keep the cadres and leaders engaged till August 14. At a meeting of the Ministers, legislators, PCC office-bearers, DCC presidents and others here at Gandhi Bhavan, the PCC chief and the Chief Minister jointly announced the party programmes. Addressing reporters after the meeting, Mr. Srinivas said Prajapatham programme would be conducted from April 10 to May 3. Coinciding with the four-year rule of the party in the State, assets distribution programmes have been planned at district headquarters on May 12. Programmes listThe party would hold ‘Re-dedication day’ celebrations on May 14 in Hyderabad on completion of four years and follow it up with Rythu Chaitanya yatras from May 17 to June 3. Farmer’s conventions would be held between June 5 and 9. This will be followed by Intinta Indiramma phase III programme from June 10-25 and Indiramma Sambaralu from June 28 to July 5. Mr. Srinivas said party leaders would visit villages selected under the Indiramma programmes to get feedback about the implementation from July 10 to 25 and August 1 to 14.
