Scuffle in Nandigram
NANDIGRAM: A CPI(M) supporter was injured on Saturday when a firearm went off during a scuffle between the Marxists and supporters of the Bhumi Uchhed Pratirodh Committee (BUPC) in Nandigram, which had been in the grip of violence last year.
The scuffle broke out at around 2 p.m. at Jambari locality when BUPC men reportedly objected to a CPI(M) meeting in the area.
While CPI(M) leader Ashok Guriya said one of their supporters Asim Karan was injured as a bullet allegedly fired by a BUPC activist grazed his ear, BUPC leader Bhabani Das said the CPI(M) activist was holding a firearm which suddenly went off but he was not hit.
The police said the situation was normal now. — PTI
